Ground observer Markus Mainka, taking photos of aircraft landing on runway 25L, reported that just when the aircraft touched down a loud bang was heard, the aircraft bounced, touched down a second time - without further bang -, rolled out and taxied to the gate. Only after reviewing the photos taken during the short final and landing Markus Mainka recognized that the left hand engine (V2527) had emitted streaks of flame and the bang just at touch down.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 90 minutes, then departed for the return flight AA-779 to Phoenix.
